Lifestyle newborn photography in Frankfort, KY

I recently had the honor of doing an in-home lifestyle newborn photography session in Frankfort for Beth and Alex. After nine-ish months of waiting for baby’s arrival, the “newborn” time can be fleeting. It’s such an important milestone to document, and in my opinion, there’s no better way than an in-home lifestyle session!

With Beth and Alex, I floated between a more documentary approach as they gave baby Sebastian a bath and followed with a little more of a directed approach. Lifestyle photography sits between true documentary photography and traditional, posed, look-at-the-camera-and-smile photography. Lifestyle photography is all about authenticity – capturing real interactions and real emotions in real places.

In addition to the super-cute details of baby Sebastian, I made sure to incorporate parts of Beth’s and Alex’s home in some of the photos. This is an important time and milestone in all their lives, and these environmental portraits help document a crucial part of their visual legacy. I have no doubt that when Sebastian is older, they will also become some of his most treasured possessions.

Since he was born so close to Christmas, it only made sense to make use of the Christmas tree.
